Someday I want to sit down and do a deep-dive dissection of The Secret Agent - there is so much going on in this film that I couldn't possibly digest it all on first viewing. But even with what I did absorb, it's stayed with me more than I anticipated. The way it balances a deeply layered story with quirky intersecting threads and nods to classic cinemas is a real feat. I think this film will be studied for generations.
