How it would all look if I selected the nominees and winners each year!

I'm all well & good with Joaquin winning this year, despite my not-so-hot feelings on Joker, because he is an incredible actor, and this is one of his more volcanic performances. However, I felt that he was better in 2012's The Master, a role that gave him more to do and thus gave him more distance to run.
Seeing as he's already a Dickie Award winner for that film (my fave of 2012), I have no need to reward him here. Instead, I champion master Jonathan Pryce! Pryce has been oh so good in so many movies over the years, and this is his crown jewel - I was so moved by his Pope Francis, so enamored by the level of detail he brought to this precious performance. He LIVED this role so richly, allowing us to breathe into this surprisingly touching story all the more fully.
